Dylan of course, I know.

I was about to say that the last year seemed really good for indie/solo artists (Feist, Laura Veirs, Broken Social Scene) but then I was looking at the dates and I realized that all of the albums I bought in 2008 - and so far in 2009 - were actually 2007 releases.

So clearly I'm behind the times. I'll go through my musica and see if I can find anything from 08 worth a crap. And I'll check those out.

Don't remember everything, but here's three strong...

Don't remember everything, but here's three strong ones:

Friendly Fires "Friendly Fires" - at first thought it was just standard electro-rock but that thing has got the most depth of anything I listened to in 2008

Bob Dylan "Tell Tale Signs: Bootleg Series Vol 8" - Dylan the way Dylan should be. My list of essentials has winnowed down over the years. Spit up and diapers and baths before bed have eroded my needs, and in truth my desires.

On the music front I have also been there. I've never been a radio fan, though some good bands come and go. I listen because, frankly, it's easier than complaining, but sometimes I just can't stomach it. Nickleback will cause an instant radio turn off.

Mostly I look to B movie sound tracks, My Space, the College Music Journal and, yes, commercials for new music. I long ago discovered that my friends taste in music differs greatly from mine. I was told I was "elitist." Which was true. Some music is crap, I don't care how you look at it.

But I got tired of being called an elitist so I just started keeping my musical pleasures to myself.

Anyway... that sorta ran on forever and ever. What did you put on your list of good 2008 albums?
